Opening April 17 for the 2014 Season!

Just like the grass and the flowers, when spring arrives Hinton’s Orchard wakes from our winter nap.  The peach trees are beginning to bloom and asparagus is starting to poke up from the ground.

The farm market will open for the season on Thursday, April 17th at 9 a.m.  Fresh cut asparagus will be available as well as all kinds of annual and perennial flowers, hanging baskets, flower pots, vegetable plants and herbs.  Hinton’s Kitchen will also be baking fresh bread and grinding all-natural peanut butter.  If you would like to order fresh bread or specialty cakes for Easter, send an email or call to leave a message at (270) 325-3854 today!

Spring hours for Hinton’s Orchard are Monday – Saturday 9 am – 6 pm.   We will resume our Hardin County Farmer’s Market schedule on Saturday, April 19th.  We look forward to seeing you soon!

Eat Beef TurkeyAs you are making your plans for a Thanksgiving feast, don’t forget about apples, sweet potatoes, and more from Hinton’s Orchard!  We still have seven varieties of apples to choose from including some apples great for eating, some great for cooking, and some great for anything.  Fresh apple cider will also be available through Thanksgiving.  Hinton’s Kitchen is taking orders for pumpkin, apple, and pecan pies and lots of other treats.

Apples, Apples & More

Halloween has passed but Hinton’s Orchard is still here!  For the most part, pumpkins have stepped aside so that apples can once again take center stage.  You will find 8 varieties of delicious apples in the market — Golden Delicious, Winesap, Granny Smith, Cameo, Fuji, Arkansas Black, Gold Rush, and Pink Lady.   A few cooking pumpkins are hanging around as well as some small decorative gourds for your Thanksgiving centerpiece. Fresh baked bread, apple cider, sweet potatoes are also still in season.

Keep Hinton’s in mind as you make plans for the holidays.  A full selection of fruit baskets will be available by order as well as gift baskets using any of Hinton’s great gourmet food products.  Also, let Hinton’s Kitchen take care of your baked good needs whether it is a loaf of fresh bread, a pumpkin pie, or a jam cake.  For a full list of basket and baked good options click here.

Happy Halloween!

October is coming to an end but Hinton’s Orchard still has plenty of pumpkins and fresh apples to choose from in the market.  Everything that you need for your Halloween party is still here — pumpkins of all sizes and colors, 6 varieties of apples, fresh apple cider, caramel apples, fresh baked bread, and more!

The fall season will finish up this Saturday, November 2nd with Pumpkin Destruction Day.  Smash some pumpkins, do pumpkin bowling, pumpkin chuckin, and get pumpkins treats from Hinton’s Kitchen.  Pumpkin pie ice cream will be available through November 5th — get it while you can!

Apple & Pumpkin Time!


appleswithpumpkinFall has officially arrived at Hinton’s Orchard and so have apples and pumpkins!  Apples in the market this week include Gala, Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, Jonathon, Cortland, and the long awaited Jonagold.   More varieties will be ripening soon.  Fall also means that you will find fresh apple cider, local honey & sorghum, our fresh baked bread, and all-natural peanut butter.  You will also find local sweet potatoes & potatoes as well as our own bell peppers, eggplant and watermelons.

The pumpkin crop has slowly started to ripen.  Our u-pick patches are open each day during regular store hours.  We will be picking pumpkins throughout the week and adding to those available at the market.  As always, Hinton’s Orchard has a great variety of pumpkins & fall squash with over 60 varieties.  We also have a nice selection of colorful mums, straw bales and corn shocks ready to decorate your home for the season.

The market and play area are open Monday – Saturday 9 am – 6 pm and Sunday 1 – 6 pm.  Hayrides are available on Saturday and Sunday.  Plan your trip today!

Apple Festival

Apple Festival time has arrived at Hinton’s Orchard!  The Apple Festival is the beginning of all the fun activities — the corn maze and playapples area will be open and hayrides will be moving around the farm.  The Apple Olympics will test your skills in everything from apple stacking to apple tossing.  The market will be full of several different varieties of apples and plenty of apple cider for drinking.  Hinton’s Kitchen will be serving up plenty of good things to eat including Durham Beef hamburger, Orchard BBQ, our famous apple dumplins and caramel apple ice cream.

Admission is $5 and includes the hayride, corn maze and play area as well as participation in the Apple Olympics.  Children 2 and under are admitted free of charge.  The market and play area will be open 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturday.  Hayrides will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In addition to all of the apple fun, Hinton’s still has plenty of other produce in the market.  You will find tomatoes, squash, eggplant and peppers as well as a great selection of watermelon and cantaloupes.  This weekend will be the  last sweet corn of the season so don’t miss out!

Fall is Near

Everyone at Hinton’s Orchard & Farm Market is preparing for the fall season.  Harvest has begun with our great apple crop, fresh apple Honeycrisp-Multicolor 2012cider is here, and work is beginning on Hinton’s Farm Land play area.  In the market this week you will find Gala, Ginger Gold, Honeycrisp, and Cortland apples and by the weekend Jonathon will be available too.  Beautiful mums will be delivered on Thursday.  Pumpkins can’t be too far behind!

Even though we are headed into the fall, summer is not completely finished at Hinton’s Orchard.  You will still find sweet corn, tomatoes, eggplant, squash, onions, potatoes, green beans and peppers are all still available in the market.  You will also find plenty of sweet cantaloupes and watermelons ready to go home with you!

Hinton’s Kitchen offers freshly baked bread, all natural peanut butter, and Caramel Apple and Vanilla ice cream throughout September.  Market hours are 9 am – 6 pm Monday through Saturday and 1 – 6 pm on Sunday.  Stop in today with your grocery list and a good appetite!

Melon Mania!!!


Cantaloupes and watermelons are plentiful at Hinton’s Orchard for this upcoming Labor Day weekend.  The better news is that they are delicious!  If watermelonyou need an easy side dish for your weekend cookout, look no further than Hinton’s Orchard & Farm Market.  Joanna’s sister always says that we have the best melons in town!

In addition to our melons, you will find everything you need to eat this weekend in the market: sweet corn, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, squash, eggplant, beans, onions and potatoes.  The freezer is stocked with Durham Beef hamburgers and steaks and chicken apple brats for your grilling needs.

Our apples have started to ripen and we are picking several varieties including Gala, Cortland, Honeycrisp and Ginger Gold.  Whether you want some to eat or some to cook we can find a good fit for you.

As always, fresh apple cider arrives for Labor Day weekend.  We will have a new batch of cider here late on Friday.

Peaches, Peaches!!

  It’s peach time at Hinton’s!  If you have not tasted our sweet, juicy peaches yet this summer you are missing out!

Peaches will be available throughout August.  Also this month you will find a wide selection of vegetables including tomatoes, sweet corn, peppers, green beans, squash and zucchini.  Watermelons and cantaloupes are also plentiful!  Plenty of rain this summer has meant plenty of produce!

A few varieties of summer apples ripen during August including Summer Mac (aka Paula Red), Blondee, Ginger Gold, Mollies Delicious, and Gala.  These are just a warm up for our fall apple season!

Fresh Vegetables are Here!

The summer vegetable season has arrived at Hinton’s Orchard!  Visit the market today to find fresh squash, zucchini, cucumbers, new potatoes, onions, broccoli, and even a few tomatoes.  As always, you will find our fresh baked bread, homemade peanut butter, and soft serve ice cream.  All plants and flowers in the greenhouse are now 25% off.
