While plants, strawberries, apples, peaches, and pumpkins are our main crops, the farm offers a wide variety of fresh produce, food products, lawn & garden care and gift items throughout the growing season from April – December.

There are many buzzwords surrounding agriculture these days.  “Organic,” “sustainable,” “responsible,” and “conventional” are all words that are often used to label food production.  Unfortunately, labels are not often explained to the general public and misinformation exists about what all of these terms actually mean.  To put it simply, Hinton’s Orchard grows plants, fruits and vegetables in a manner that we are comfortable and confident in feeding ourselves and our community.

We work hard to stay educated on the latest growing practices.  Protecting our water and land resources for future generations is a top priority.  We rely on proven, scientific information to grow products that are safe, quality, and most of all tasty. We are simple people with a simple mission — to provide quality plants, fruits and vegetables to our community and to tell the story of the agriculture that feeds a growing world.  Please check out our list of seasonal offerings and plan to make a Hinton’s market part of your shopping routine.

Spring Season

Spring is the beginning of our growing season at Hinton’s Orchard & Farm Market and it’s an exciting time to stop in!

Flowers, vegetable plants, and herbs are a huge focus of the spring season.  Whether you need ready-made hanging baskets and pots or want bedding plants and vegetable slips for your own creation, Hinton’s Orchard will take care of what you need!  In addition to plants, you will find asparagus and other seasonal vegetables at the beginning of the season.  In May sweet strawberries begin ripening, usually lasting through early June.  Strawberries are available in both markets or you can pick your own berries at the farm.

Summer Season

Summer brings a wide variety of vegetables such as sweet corn, tomatoes, beans, peppers, squash and zucchini to the Hinton’s markets.  Fruits are also plentiful as blackberries, watermelons, cantaloupes, and summer apples are available.  The stars of the summer are our juicy peaches. It’s hard to beat a juicy, tree-ripened peach!  Fresh local honey is available the markets, made by bees on our property. With so much variety to choose from in the market, it’s not hard to find something that you will love!

Fall Season

Fall is the most fun time of the year at Hinton’s! More apples than you can imagine, pumpkins, pumpkins, and more pumpkins, beautiful mums, sweet potatoes, and many seasonal vegetables will last until frost. Fresh apple cider arrives for Labor Day weekend and lasts through Thanksgiving. Visit the Hinton’s FarmLand page to find out more about all of our fall activities.

Winter Season

Hinton’s has apples, pumpkins, and sweet potatoes through at least Thanksgiving.  For the Christmas season, you can select a pre-cut tree or live wreath or order a custom gift or fruit basket for someone special.

All Seasons

Throughout the year, Hinton’s Kitchen offers fresh baked goods using the season’s bounty.  Fresh baked bread and homemade peanut butter can be found nearly every day in both markets.  The farm market has become famous for our soft service ice cream throughout the year.  Choose from vanilla or our seasonal flavor – strawberry, peach, caramel apple, or pumpkin pie. Hinton’s Kitchen bakes many different items seasonally.  Different flavors of muffins, homemade turnovers, caramel apples, and homemade apple and pumpkin pies can be found on the shelves at both markets at different times of the year.  On weekends during the fall season, Hinton’s Kitchen serves hamburgers, hot dogs, chili and our famous apple dumplins to satisfy pumpkin picking appetites!

Both the farm market and the Elizabethtown market carry a variety of gourmet food items including preserves, fruit butters, salsas, pickles, fruit ciders and more.  Hinton’s Orchard is a Kentucky Proud producer and we carry many other Kentucky Proud products such as Kenny’s Farmhouse Cheese, Pop’s Pickles, Weisenberger baking mixes, Burley BBQ sauces, Davis Bend Angus Beef, and Penn’s country ham, sausage, and bacon.

In addition to things that you can eat, Hinton’s Orchard specializes in lawn & garden care items and unique gift items.  Both markets showcase many gardening accessories such as flower pots, gardening gloves and tools, fertilizers, potting soil and mulch, and gazing balls. Hinton’s Orchard also carries a line of handmade baskets from Ghana.  These baskets are beautifully made in a variety of sizes, shapes and colors.  Besides being beautiful, the Ghana baskets are functional and your purchase helps support farming families in another area of the world.
